The Texoma Blast is the largest single fundraiser to help boost the services of these organizations.
Western Grayson County Special Olympics
For children with challenging needs and disabilities, Special Olympics is often the only place where they have an opportunity to participate in their communities and develop belief in themselves. Special Olympic sports provide a gateway to empowerment, competence, acceptance and joy.
All monies from this event that is given to Special Olympics stays right here in Western Grayson County to help our local kids. Your donations will provide the funds for the purchase of new equipment, uniforms, athletic physicals, reward days, the addition of soccer as a new sport, and recreation for students.
Volunteer Fire Departments
The Sherwood Shores Fire Department and Gordonville Fire Department are the lifeblood of our area. These departments provide fire protection and first response to medical emergencies such as vehicle accidents and other health related issues. The fire departments are manned by volunteers and whose operating budgets rely mostly on donations from the public.
These fire departments provide protection and service to:
• Thousands of homes, ranches, meadows and wooded areas • Seven Marinas • Lake Texoma’s over one million annual visitors
Your Financial Support will help provide these needed items:
Sherwood Shores VFD
In 2017, the Sherwood Shores Volunteer Fire Department would like help to pay for their percentage of a grant for a new Command/EMS unit. They also are looking to expand onto their fire station as the needs of the community continue to grow.
Gordonville VFD

This Event is Supported by TWS Texoma Westend Support (TWS) was formed for the purpose of raising funds for worthwhile community based organizations. The current focus is two local volunteer fire departments and Western Grayson County Special Olympics. Texoma Westend Support's primary fund raising event is the "Texoma Blast", which is a one day function held in April and includes an evening dinner, dance, raffle, and silent auction. The net proceeds, with the exception of about $1000 retained for start-up the following year, are divided among the supported organizations. TWS is a 501c (3) charitable organization.
